So, yesterday on our radio show, Jen talked about HER song. She talked about how her song had started out as a song that she wanted her partner to sing to her. When her partner didn’t “get it,” Jen felt sad. But after a couple days, Jen found a way to turn her love song into a song dedicated to herself. It was a delicious process and she invited all of our listeners to find their songs. I took on the invitation and have been searching since then for the song that is MY love song to ME.
I was losing hope. I found LOTS of songs I loved. Songs that reminded me of other people. Songs that were linked with specific memories. Songs that sucked, quite frankly. And songs that pissed me off as soon as they started playing. I found songs that were too fluffy and others that were too harsh. I found songs that meant something entirely different to me yesterday at noon than they would mean to me now, tonight. But, I was having no luck finding my own.
In one last attempt, I searched YouTube using the term “loving you” and just started following links. I tripped into a space that had a link to the song below. Its title caught my eye because, for a very long time, I’ve said, “People don’t stay in my life very long because loving me is hard.”
Yes. Well… it IS high time that I changed that story!

And… here are the lyrics:
Loving you is easy.
Loving you is wondrous and pure.
I shout it from the rooftops.
How long must I wait ‘til I see your smile?
Might have been the moonlight
Caught up in the sparkle in your eyes.
So wicked and I know I should go slow
But it’s not in me to wait.
‘Cause I’m alive!
I’m on fire!
Shining like a star burst into the sky!
Oh the fury of desire!
You burn so bright, electrify.
You light me up.
You take me higher.
I’ve been down a long road
And I’ve become a stranger to myself.
Digging in my heels and hoping time
Might be kinder if I wait it out.
Nothing came from wanting.
And I became so small and insecure
Didn’t know the cost of all I’d lost
Until I found it fresh and new
(Again with you)
And I’m on fire!
Shining like a star burst into the sky!
Oh the fury of desire!
You burn so bright, electrify.
You light me up.
You take me higher.
(whooooooooo)
Loving you is easy.
Loving you is wondrous and pure.
I shout it from the rooftops.
How long must I wait
‘Til I see your smile?
