As I was preparing for this week’s show in The Fundamentals series over on Moments of Awakening, I was creating the beautiful image quote about the Ego Try-Angle which is the topic we will be covering this week. I was looking through my photography to find the image that felt congruent with the feeling of the message we are bringing to the world and I was thinking about the topic.
The Ego Try-Angle is a tender topic. It is also a proving ground where your beliefs are reflected back to you, giving you the opportunity to stay stuck or to shift back to your Essence. As with all of the skills in The Fundamentals to date, there is a grand invitation to get really clear with yourself on just how willing you are to transform your life into one of abundance, love, joy, and celebration.
In transformation, the results can be surprising and unexpected and there is never a guarantee on how the outcome will look. You can commit to being fully alive – as I did – and then face into your mortality in surprising ways. You can commit to releasing everything from your past – as my dear friend did – and then witness your two vehicles getting totaled in the same instance and then realize that both of them were tied to your past. You can also make the same commitments and experience phenomenal shifts and growth and joy and breathtaking beauty. It truly is up to you on how you will experience the shifts.
So, as I researched and wondered and created, the lyrics of the song streaming through my pandora.com station began sinking in. The richness of Tracy Chapman’s voice rolled over me and I stopped everything to listen to the message of her lyrics. They were perfect for the entire process of The Fundamentals because of the depths of willingness and self-honor you must possess to face into the transformation of your life. I invite you to take four minutes of your time to listen to the song, read the lyrics and wonder for yourself…
Would YOU change?

Lyrics:
Songwriters: HATCHER, AUDREY / CHAPMAN, GINGER LORRAINE
If you knew that you would die today,
Saw the face of God and love,
Would you change?
Would you change?
If you knew that love can break your heart
When you’re down so low you cannot fall
Would you change?
Would you change?
How bad, how good does it need to get?
How many losses? How much regret?
What chain reaction would cause an effect?
Makes you turn around,
Makes you try to explain,
Makes you forgive and forget,
Makes you change?
Makes you change?
If you knew that you would be alone,
Knowing right, being wrong,
Would you change?
Would you change?
If you knew that you would find a truth
That brings up pain that can’t be soothed
Would you change?
Would you change?
How bad, how good does it need to get?
How many losses? How much regret?
What chain reaction would cause an effect?
Makes you turn around,
Makes you try to explain,
Makes you forgive and forget,
Makes you change?
Makes you change?
Are you so upright you can’t be bent?
If it comes to blows are you so sure you won’t be crawling?
If not for the good, why risk falling?
Why risk falling?
If everything you think you know,
Makes your life unbearable,
Would you change?
Would you change?
If you’ve broken every rule and vow,
And hard times come to bring you down,
Would you change?
Would you change?
If you knew that you would die today,
If you saw the face of God and love,
Would you change?
Would you change?
Would you change?
Would you change?
If you saw the face of God and love
If you saw the face of God and love
Would you change?
Would you change?
